| I have to say, I love production. I finally got the samples from a CD I've had for awhile to my comp, and I mixed up this. Please 1. Critique, 2. Tell me if you know someone who can rap over this, and is willing to. Because that would be awesome.

| Being the history nerd I am, I thought this was hilarious. From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leon_Trotsky
Trotsky and other Soviet leaders were put on trial in 1906 on charges
of supporting an armed rebellion. At the trial, Trotsky delivered some
of the best speeches of his life and solidified his reputation as an
effective public speaker, which he confirmed in 1917-1920. He was
convicted and sentenced to exile for life.
Wow! What effective speeches he must have made!

| Okay, I've got alot of updates on our (Me, Michael Shorrosh, JP Menshing) band. First: We have a new name. After finding out that no one can pronounce The Synesthetes, we have changed our name to The Color Audition. I actually like that one better. Second: Our debut EP, The Destruckt-O-Disk, is 99% done. We had our last recording session yesterday/today, and the only thing left is for me to finish vocals one one song. This means the (non-tenative) release date will be November 21, with advance copies going out earlier. Tracklist: 1. Next Exit, Downtown 2. Kitchen Table Jam 3. Shake My Hand 4. October 5. Forgetting (Through Miles) 6. December 3, 2003 7. Blue Star Total amount of music: ~31 minutes Third: New myspace will be posted soon with a few songs from the EP on it. | | |
| So, I bought two interesting books at a thrift store today. One is a government textbook from 1922, the other is a geography textbook from 1907. The government textbook is in great shape; the geography one less so. The guy that owned it (geography) wrote his name in it, and through google and the social security death index, i have a somewhat decent idea who he is (it's looking like he was the US vice consul in Piedras Negras, Salina Cruz, Tampioco, and Monterrey in the late 1920's/early 1930's... pretty interesting guy). Anyway, i've been reading the book, and besides maps that include Austria-Hungary and the Ottoman Empire, it offers other... views of the times. These are all taken directly from the book:
"The Germans have strict laws, and policemen are watchful. The people seem to like to be kept in order."
"Chinese Children are well taken care of. When one month old the little yellow baby has his head shaved."
"The ordinary Chinaman is a very queer man."
(In relation to climate belts) "Negroes like the hot belt"
So, apparently in 1907, teaching kids racism was normal. Wow... that's pretty much just awful.
Oh, and another interesting thing. In the map of the south, Oklahoma is divided into Oklahoma and Indian Territory. And the capital is Guthrie.
Things have changed.
